On November 4, a delegation led by Mayor Rugui?CHEN?visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). They were accompanied by SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO and President Shiyi CHEN, senior leaders from both Shenzhen Municipal Government and SUSTech, and representatives of students and faculty members.
Mayor?Rugui CHEN and the delegation visited the sand table of SUSTech’s construction planning and listened to the university’s overall developmental strategy and progress of the campus construction.
In the meeting, Mayor?Rugui CHEN expressed his congratulation SUSTech on its 10th anniversary. He?affirmed the outstanding progress and achievements?the university has made within a short period of time under the leadership of President Shiyi CHEN. He said that SUSTech has become a miracle in the development of education in Shenzhen. At the same time, in the critical period of epidemic prevention and control this year, SUSTech has made a positive contribution to the fight against the epidemic with its scientific and technological research, displaying its responsibility as an institution of higher education. ?
Mayor?Rugui CHEN said that first-class cities should be equipped with first-class universities. Shenzhen attaches great importance to the construction and development of SUSTech, especially the talent cultivation, and will continue to give full support to the University.
Mayor CHEN also hopes that SUSTech will continue to explore the modern university system with Chinese characteristics and innovative talents cultivation?model.
